#1 Torrey Pines made the trip to Oceanside, and took the Pirates down for the 4th straight meeting. That Falcons led 50-14 at halftime, before finishing off a 71-41 effort. Senior Running Back Mac Bingham ran for 303 yards and 8 touchdowns. Bingham tied a CIF record by scoring 50 points on the night.
#2 Cathedral Catholic didn’t have an exciting Friday night as they were informed earlier in the week that Lincoln would be forfeiting the game due to a lack of available players.
#3 Helix got their toughest league test of the season traveling to previously unbeaten #10 Granite Hills. A very competitive first half found the teams tied at 14, before the Highlanders exploded for 42 2nd half points en route to a 56-21 win.
#4 Eastlake had a slow start when they made the short trip to Olympian on Friday. At halftime, the Titans found themselves trailing 3-0. The offense woke up in the 2nd half with 21 points in 3rd quarter and won going away, 28-3.
#5 San Marcos hosted Westview in a non-league game and got started quickly. The Knights held a 34-0 halftime lead before coasting to a 48-14 win.
#6 Carlsbad hosted #7 La Costa Canyon on Senior night and controlled the game throughout. The Lancers led 10-0 at the half and took down the Mavericks, 24-7. Keoni Quintana was great for the Lancers with 261 yards through the air with 4 touchdown passes. Junior wide receiver Cole Wright stepped up with 7 catches for 180 yards and 2 TD’s.
#7 La Costa Canyon
#8 St. Augustine recovered quickly from their last second loss earlier in the week against Madison by starting quickly at Point Loma and quickly turning the game into a running-clock affair, 39-0. Junior Tyson McWilliams finished with 6 catches for 118 yards and a TD.
#9 Madison had a huge win against St. Augustine earlier in the week, but couldn’t back it up come Friday. Mira Mesa came up big, led by Noah Tumblin. He had 82 yards and a TD through the air to go with 104 yards and a TD on the ground to lead the Marauders to a 24-20 win. USC-commit Kenan Christon did all he could with 152 yards and a TD for the Warhawks.
