Baseball:

  • Torrey Pines senior Joe Magrisi hit a walk-off home run to beat La Costa Canyon in the first round of the Open Division Playoffs.

  • Petco Park will host a High School All-Star Game and Home Run Derby following the Padres day game on June 6th. More information HERE

Football:

  • The new open division format in football will consist of 4 teams, replacing the previous format of 8 teams.

Alumni:

  • ’05 Sweetwater grad Vidal Nuno, a left-handed pitcher, was called up to the Tampa Bay Rays Major League Roster.
  • ’14 Valhalla grad Jordan Qsar was named the WCC Baseball Player of the Year.

  • Former Cathedral Catholic RB Tyler Gaffney, who played at Stanford and briefly in the NFL, is back playing minor league baseball in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
