Baseball:

  • 2018 Torrey Pines RHP/OF Joe Magrisi broke the section record for consecutive shutout innings (42), set by David Wells at Point Loma HS in 1982. Magrisi extended the active streak to 44.

  • 2019 Ramona RHP Derek Diamond, a Stanford commit, threw a no-hitter, double, homered, and drove in three runs in the 8-0 win over Escondido.

Basketball:

  • Mater Dei Catholic has hired a new Men’s Basketball Coach.

Alumni:

  • ’15 Granite Hills grad Jordan Verdon was named the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week for the 2nd time this season. Hitting .369 with 11 home runs for San Diego State.
  • ’13 Cathedral Catholic grad Stephen Gonsalves was named the MiLB Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA and 14 K’s. Gonsalves plays for the Rochester Red Wings, the AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
