Week 11: Previews and Predictions

#9 San Marcos #1 Mission Hills: Known as the Discovery Bowl, Mission Hills has owned this game in recent years, winning the past ten games between the two teams. San Marcos has rarely had problems scoring, but can they contain the balanced Grizzly offense led by Dakota Miller and Nehemiah McFarlin.

PREDICTION: Mission Hills – 35 San Marcos – 24

#8 La Costa Canyon Torrey Pines: The annual Beach Bowl, where the winning team claims a surfboard, was dominated in the late 90’s and early 00’s by the Falcons. Since the 2004 season, La Costa Canyon has won 9 of the 14 games between the teams. Expect a low scoring game between two run-heavy teams that always have their defenses prepared.

PREDICTION: La Costa Canyon – 13 Torrey Pines – 10

#4 Madison Mission Bay: The Buccaneers were stunned at home last week and suffered their first defeat when Point Loma jumped on them from the start. They’ll have their biggest test of the season when they welcome the Warhawks. Madison has been overwhelming their opponents since an overtime loss to Eastlake in week 4.

PREDICTION: Madison – 38 Mission Bay – 17

Poway @ #5 Rancho Bernardo:

PREDICTION: Poway – 24 Rancho Bernardo – 21

#10 Westview @ Mt. Carmel: Westview has battles injuries of late, and have dropped their last two games, to La Costa Canyon and Poway. The Sundevils bounced back last week following two league losses. Lucas Johnson has accounted for 28 touchdowns and nearly 2,500 yards this season.

PREDICTION: Westview – 20 Mt. Carmel – 14

La Jolla Country DayThe Bishops School (AT MADISON HS): The Torreys had their seven game winning streak snapped last week when Santa Fe Christian showed that they are the premier team in the Coastal League. The Knights sophomore wide receiver Moses Mooney has put up a huge season to date, collecting 15 touchdown receptions.
