  • 2019 San Marcos LHP-1B Jacob Widener committed to San Diego State.
  • 2020 Cathedral Catholic ATH Jordan Allen picked up offers from Florida Atlantic and Arizona State.
  • 2019 Morse DB Shamar Martin picked up an offer from Colorado.
  • 2019 Lincoln ATH Jamahd Monroe picked up his first offer, from Army.
  • 2019 La Costa Canyon RB Karson Lippert picked up his first offer, from UC-Davis.
  • 2019 Helix LB Michael Shawcroft picked up an offer from Yale.

Baseball:

  • 2018 Torrey Pines RHP/1B/OF Joey Magrisi was named the So Cal player of the week by Cal-Hi Sports.

  • 2018 La Costa Canyon RHP JJ Rytz, a Colorado Springs-signee, threw a no-hitter in the Mavericks 16-0 win over San Dieguito Academy.
    • 2019 La Costa Canyon 1B/LHP, a Vanderbilt commit, had two hits and a grand slam in that game.

Basketball:

  • Former Foothills Christian forward Taeshon Cherry signed his letter of intent with Arizona State yesterday, and will join the Sun Devils next season.

Alumni:

  • 2015 Mission Hills grad DeChaun Holiday has received his release and will transfer from UCLA.
  • 2015 Granite Hills grad Seth Collins, an Oregon State transfer, took an official visit to Texas Tech this weekend. Collins will be eligible immediately with two seasons to play.
  • 2007 Valhalla grad Greg Garcia, an infielder for the St. Louis Cardinals, had a career day at the plate on Saturday going 3-4 with two home runs and a double.

Recruiting:

  • Alabama and Oregon State offered 2019 Madison RB Kenan Christon.
  • 2019 University City WR Casey Granfors picked up an offer from Brown.
  • San Diego offered 2018 Torrey Pines G Finn Sullivan. Sullivan also took official visits Brown University and American University.
  • 2018 Helix Catcher Zack Owens committed to Azusa Pacific.
  • South Dakota offered 2019 San Diego DB Jayden Wickware and 2019 Point Loma ATH Cam Auva’a.
  • 2019 Morse DB Shamar Martin picked up offers from San Diego State, Nebraska, and UCLA.
  • 2019 La Jolla Country Day SG Ryan Langborg picked up an offer from UCSB during an in-home visit with Head Coach Joe Pasternack.
  • 2018 El Camino SG Jalen Flanagan picked up an offer from San Francisco State during a visit to the school.

Baseball:

  • #4 Torrey Pines defeated #1 San Marcos, 11-10, in 9 innings to win the North County Tournament.
    • 2020 Torrey Pines 3B/USD Commit Kevin Sim went 3-4, with a 3-run home run.

  • #2 Eastlake beat #6 Helix 13-2, to win the GMC Tournament. 2019 SDSU Commit Ricky Tibbetts pitched four innings for Eastlake. Senior Micah Pietila-Wiggs homered and doubled in the win.
  • 2018 San Marcos SS-RHP/Notre Dame-signee Zack Prajzner was named the Cal-Hi Sports So Cal Player of the Week.
  • #5 Cathedral Catholic went 2-2 this week in The Boras Classic in Orange County, playing against several of the best teams in Southern California.

Alumni:

  • 1995 Poway grad Charley Hoffman hit a hole-in-one during the final round of The Masters. Hoffman finished in a tie for 12th place.

  • 2014 Helix grad Jalen Davis was honored with a banner at Utah State after being named an All-American this past season.

Recruiting:

  • 2021 Bishop’s QB Tyler Buchner picked up an offer from Michigan.
  • 2018 Helix PG Amari Green has committed to Humboldt State.
  • 2018 Torrey Pines G Finn Sullivan picked up an offer from the University of Richmond. St. Mary’s and USD also stopped in to watch him.
  • 2019 Torrey Pines OL Brian Driscoll picked up an offer from Columbia University.
  • 2019 Carlsbad ATH Jacob Asa Turner picked up an offer from Nebraska.

Baseball:

  • The 68th annual Lions Tournament was completed this week, with #8 San Marcos defeating #3 Rancho Bernardo to win their 5th game in 4 days. Notre Dame-signee Zack Prajzner had 11 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in the Championship Game.
  • Reigning CIF Player of the Year Grant Holman of Eastlake HS, a Cal-signee, had an impressive performance on Wednesday.

Alumni:

  • 16 Players from San Diego made MLB Opening Day Rosters.

  • 2003 Morse grad Adam Jones hit a walk-off home run for the Baltimore Orioles on Opening Day.

  • Former Helix TE Levine Toilolo signed with the Detroit Lions, following his five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Former Torrey Pines/Palomar College SG Jackson Strong has committed to play at Humboldt State following two years playing for the Comets.
  • 2017 Cathedral Catholic grad Brandon McCoy has declared for the NBA Draft following one season at UNLV. He is expected to hire an agent.
  • 2017 Foothills Christian grad Jaylen Hands has declared for the NBA Draft following one season at UCLA. He will not yet hire an agent, to maintain his collegiate eligibility.
  • Former Vista standout Leon Hall signed with the Oakland Raiders. He’s entering his 12th NFL Season.
