Hands and McCoy Named McDonald’s All-American’s

For the 2nd consecutive season, San Diego will be represented in the annual McDonald’s All-American Game, to be played on March 29th, 2017 at the United Center in Chicago.

2016 Foothills Christian Forward TJ Leaf played in the game last season before enrolling at UCLA. Foothills Christian will be represented once again, this time by senior point guard Jaylen Hands. Hands will follow in Leaf’s steps and head to Westwood following his high school career. Hands is playing his senior season at Foothills Christian High School after previous stops at Mater Dei Catholic HS and Balboa City School.

Hands will be joined by Cathedral Catholic Center Brandon McCoy. McCoy transferred into Cathedral Catholic HS prior to his junior year. He played his first two seasons at Morse High School. McCoy has announced his top five schools, and has officially visited all but San Diego State.

2017 Bishop’s Guard Destiny Littleton was also named to the 2017 McDonald’s All-American Game. Last night, Littleton set the all-time California Scoring Record with 3,838 career points. She has signed to play at USC.

Record-setting Burmeister Flips to Ducks

The most prolific passer in CIF-San Diego History, Senior Braxton Burmeister of La Jolla Country Day School, has committed to the University of Oregon and HC Willie Taggart. Burmeister, who was twice committed to the University of Arizona will enroll in Eugene in March and participate in Spring Football with the Ducks.

As we get closer to National Signing Day, on Wednesday, February 1st, recruiting is picking up around the county with new offers going out, coaches visiting homes, and prospects visiting campuses.

  • 2017 Patrick Henry ATH Dominick Silvels took an official visit to Washington State.
  • 2017 Madison RB Erick Buchanan took an official visit to Sacramento State.
  • 2017 Madison OL-DL Jojo Falo took an official visit to Utah State.
  • 2017 Helix DB Scott Young took an official visit to Arizona, where he is currently committed.
  • 2017 Rancho Bernardo QB Mark Salazar took an official visit to Fresno State, where he is currently committed.
  • Former Patrick Henry DB Brandon Brooks committed to Nevada following an official visit.
  • Dixie State hosted 2017 Torrey Pines DE Jacob Schneider, 2017 Mater Dei Catholic DB Jovan Bayless and 2017 Mt. Miguel DE Anthony Yarbrough.
  • Utah had an in-home visit with 2017 Otay Ranch FS Devin Lloyd, who recently decommitted from UNLV.

  • 2017 Cathedral Catholic TE Patrick Brown, a Boston College commit, hosted Head Coach Steve Addazio for an in-home visit.
