Late in the fourth quarter both teams suffered tough injuries within minutes of each other. Highlander RB/LB Zeke Noa took a handoff up the middle and came up with an injured right leg/knee that forced him to miss the rest of the contest. His absence would be tough to overcome in the Championship game vs. Cathedral Catholic. Just after that Broncos running back Milan Grice caught a swing pass and immediately fumbled and went down in serious pain and was carted off with a right leg/knee injury. Tough news for two of this season’s KUSI PPR Silver Pigskin Finalists.
Trailing 8 to 3 midway through the 2nd quarter on a bright afternoon in Point Loma, St. Augustine handed the ball off to star junior Isaac Taylor-Stuart and watched him gash the Pointers right up the middle and into the end zone. The Saints added another touchdown on a hook and ladder with a backwards pitch to Darrell Broussard as the time expired though Broussard appeared to step out of bounds running down the sideline. Taylor-Stuart added another 67 yard touchdown run in the 2nd half before finishing with 150 yards for the game.
The defense kept the Pointers offense off balance with interceptions from Noah DiNapoli, Kaori McGowan, and Brendan Silvia. Isaac Wright added a sack. The Saints are seeded 2nd in Division One playoffs and will have a bye week before facing the winner of El Camino and Point Loma.
